Frequently Asked Questions
What's the best time of year to visit Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald for a golf trip?
We recommend visiting in late spring, from April to June, or early autumn, September through October. You'll find ideal temperatures for playing, and the surrounding vineyards and Black Forest scenery are absolutely stunning during these months. Summer is also lovely, but you might encounter more local holidaymakers.
What kind of golf experience can I expect from the courses in this region?
You'll discover a nice variety across the three courses here. One offers a classic parkland layout with mature trees, another embraces the rolling foothills with significant elevation changes and breathtaking views, and the third provides a more open, links-style feel. Each course presents a distinct challenge and showcases the region's natural beauty.
Is it easy to combine golf with other activities in Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald?
Absolutely, that's one of the region's biggest draws. After your round, you're perfectly situated to explore charming Black Forest villages, hike or bike scenic trails, or indulge in wine tasting in the nearby Kaiserstuhl region. Freiburg is also a vibrant city with great culture and cuisine, making for a perfect evening out.
What's the typical cost for a round of golf, and do I need to book far in advance?
Green fees are generally moderate, typically ranging from €60-€90 for 18 holes, which we consider excellent value for the quality of play. While it's not always strictly necessary, we strongly advise booking your tee times a few days ahead, especially for weekend play, to ensure you get your preferred slot.
Are the courses here walkable, or should I plan on using a buggy?
Most of the courses are quite walkable, offering a pleasant stroll through the beautiful landscape, which is how we prefer to experience them. However, one course, with its more significant elevation changes, might make you consider a buggy, especially on a warm day or if you want to conserve energy for the back nine.
