Pace or Play
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the typical pace of play like at Whispering Pines Golf Club?
You'll generally find a comfortable 4-hour to 4-hour 15-minute round here, which is pretty good for a course with such incredible views. Weekends can stretch closer to 4.5 hours, especially if you get stuck behind a group stopping for too many photos of the lake. We've noticed the marshals do a decent job of keeping things moving, but the sheer beauty can be a distraction.
When's the best time to book a tee time at Whispering Pines to ensure a faster round?
If speed is your priority, aim for early morning tee times before 8 AM on weekdays. You'll often have the course almost to yourself, finishing in under 4 hours. Avoid late morning on weekends and any twilight rates-those tend to be the slowest, with groups trying to squeeze in extra holes.
Are there any specific holes or features at Whispering Pines that tend to slow things down?
Absolutely, the par-3 7th, "Eagle's Perch," is a notorious bottleneck. Everyone stops to admire the panoramic mountain vista from the elevated tee, and then the tricky green complex often leads to extra putts. Also, the long carry over the ravine on the 14th can cause delays if groups are searching for errant shots.
Does Whispering Pines actively manage pace of play, or should we expect to wait?
They do make an effort, which we appreciate. You'll usually see a marshal out on the course, particularly on busy days, gently encouraging groups to keep up. However, their tee time intervals are fairly standard, so on peak Canadian summer afternoons, a bit of waiting on the par-3s is almost inevitable.
How does the Canadian summer season or local popularity affect the pace of play at Whispering Pines?
During peak Canadian summer (July and August), Whispering Pines is incredibly popular with both locals and tourists, which definitely impacts pace. Expect rounds to be a bit slower, especially from late morning through mid-afternoon. We recommend visiting in late May or early September for faster play and still fantastic conditions.
