Balmoral Golf Course
Frequently Asked Questions
When's the absolute best time to experience Balmoral Golf Course without the peak season rush?
We always recommend late May or early June for Balmoral. The course is lush, the fairways are firming up nicely, and you'll often find fewer crowds than in peak summer, giving you a more relaxed round. Plus, the Canadian spring air is just invigorating for a morning tee time.
What's the biggest challenge golfers face at Balmoral, and how can I prepare for it?
Balmoral's true test lies in its subtle, yet deceptive, green complexes. They aren't overly undulating, but the breaks are often more severe than they appear, especially on the back nine. Trust your caddie or spend extra time on the practice green to dial in your reads-it'll save you strokes.
Is Balmoral a good course for a higher-handicap golfer, or is it strictly for low handicappers?
Don't let its reputation intimidate you-Balmoral is surprisingly playable for all skill levels, provided you choose the right tees. The fairways are generally generous, but if you stray, the rough can be penal. We suggest playing up a tee box from your usual if you want to truly enjoy the scenery without too much stress.
What's the one 'must-do' experience at Balmoral, beyond just playing 18 holes?
After your round, you absolutely have to grab a drink on the clubhouse patio overlooking the 18th green. The views are spectacular, especially as the sun starts to dip, and it's the perfect spot to relive your best shots-or lament your worst. Their local craft beer selection is also top-notch.
How far in advance should I book a tee time at Balmoral, especially if I'm visiting from out of town?
For peak season play-think July and August-we strongly advise booking your tee time at Balmoral at least 4-6 weeks out, especially for weekend mornings. If you're flexible with weekdays or willing to play later in the afternoon, you might find more availability a couple of weeks prior. Don't just show up hoping for a spot.
