Frequently Asked Questions
What's the signature challenge at Green Oaks, and which hole should we really prepare for?
You'll definitely want to bring your A-game for the par-4 14th hole, known as 'The Gauntlet.' It demands a precise tee shot to avoid the creek on the left and the towering oaks on the right, setting up a tricky approach to a multi-tiered green. Don't let the beautiful scenery distract you; this hole can easily add strokes to your card if you're not careful.
When is the best time of year to play Green Oaks for optimal course conditions and fewer crowds?
We highly recommend visiting Green Oaks in late spring, typically May, or early fall, around September. The bentgrass greens are usually rolling their truest then, and the fairways are firm but lush. You'll also find the course less crowded than during the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed pace of play.
As a non-member, what's the most practical way to get a tee time at Green Oaks Country Club?
Your best bet as a non-member is to play as a guest with an existing member; that's how we've always gotten on. Green Oaks is quite exclusive, so direct public tee times aren't available. If you don't know a member, inquire about any charity tournaments or special guest days they might host, as these are rare opportunities.
Beyond the golf course, what other amenities or experiences at Green Oaks should we make sure to check out?
After your round, you absolutely must grab a drink and a bite at 'The Oak Room' overlooking the 18th green. Their seasonal menu is always fantastic, and the views are spectacular, especially at sunset. We also suggest spending some time at their short game practice area; it's meticulously maintained and a great spot to sharpen your wedges.
What's the typical pace of play like at Green Oaks, and should we expect any significant delays?
Green Oaks generally maintains an excellent pace of play, usually around four hours for a foursome, which is fantastic for a championship course. The club does a good job of spacing out tee times, and marshals are present to keep things moving. You shouldn't anticipate significant delays unless there's an unexpected event or a very busy member-guest day.
