Norton Knolls Golf Course
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the absolute best time to play Norton Knolls for ideal conditions?
We always recommend late September through October. The autumn foliage around the course is stunning, and the cooler, drier weather means the fairways are firm and the greens roll true - a perfect combination for scoring. You'll avoid the summer crowds and humidity, making for a much more enjoyable round.
How challenging is Norton Knolls, especially for a mid-handicapper?
Norton Knolls is a fair test, but don't underestimate the back nine's elevation changes and the prevailing crosswinds on holes 14-16. Our advice is to play conservatively off the tee on those holes and focus on hitting greens in regulation; scrambling from the deep fescue can be brutal. You'll definitely want to walk it once to get a feel for the subtle breaks on the greens.
What should I expect to pay for a round at Norton Knolls, and is it worth it?
Expect to pay in the $120-$160 range for a prime weekend tee time, which we believe is excellent value for the course quality and experience. Weekday mornings often drop to $90-$110, and we highly recommend booking at least two weeks out, especially during peak fall season. The conditioning and unique layout truly justify the price.
What's the one hole at Norton Knolls everyone talks about, and why?
Without a doubt, it's the par-3 17th, "The Quarry." You're hitting over an old, water-filled quarry to a green guarded by steep rock faces, making club selection absolutely critical with the wind swirling. It's a beautiful, intimidating hole that can make or break your round - we've seen plenty of good scores unravel there.
Beyond the golf, what's the best way to cap off a day at Norton Knolls?
After your round, head straight to The Knollside Grille in the clubhouse; their smoked brisket sandwich is legendary and the perfect reward. Grab a seat on the patio overlooking the 18th green, enjoy a local craft beer, and watch other groups try to finish strong. It's a relaxed atmosphere, and the views are fantastic.
