Frequently Asked Questions
When is the absolute best time to visit Sequoyah National for ideal playing conditions and those incredible mountain views?
We highly recommend visiting in the spring (April-May) or fall (late September-October). Spring offers lush, green fairways and comfortable temperatures, while fall delivers a spectacular show of vibrant foliage that truly elevates the already stunning Smoky Mountain backdrop. You'll want to book ahead, especially for those prime fall tee times.
What's the biggest challenge or unique feature I should prepare for at Sequoyah National?
The elevation changes are a constant factor here, so be ready for some dramatic uphill and downhill shots that demand precise club selection. Robert Trent Jones II did a fantastic job integrating the natural mountain contours, meaning you'll often find uneven lies and need to trust your yardage book for blind shots. It's target golf at its finest.
Are there any signature holes or specific stretches at Sequoyah National that really stand out?
Absolutely, the back nine really shines, particularly the stretch from 12 through 15. Hole 12, a par-3, offers breathtaking views, and the par-5 15th is a true risk-reward hole where a well-placed drive can set up an eagle opportunity. You'll want to have your camera ready for those panoramic vistas.
Beyond the course, what can I expect from the clubhouse and overall amenities at Sequoyah National?
The clubhouse is welcoming and well-appointed, reflecting the local Cherokee heritage without being overly themed. We found the pro shop to be well-stocked with quality gear, and the restaurant offers a great spot to grab a casual meal or drink with views of the course. It's a comfortable place to unwind after your round.
Given the mountain terrain, is Sequoyah National a walkable course, or should I definitely plan on taking a cart?
While we love a good walk, Sequoyah National is definitely a cart-friendly course, and we strongly recommend taking one. The significant elevation changes between holes and even on some fairways would make walking extremely strenuous and slow down play. Save your energy for those challenging shots!
