Frequently Asked Questions

How challenging is the elevation at Sugarloaf, and how does it impact your game?

You're definitely playing mountain golf here, so expect dramatic elevation changes that make club selection a real puzzle. We found the downhill shots exhilarating, but those uphill approaches demand extra focus and a club or two more than you'd think. It's a fun challenge, not just a walk in the park.

When is the absolute best time to play Sugarloaf for both golf and scenery?

For the ultimate experience, we highly recommend late September to early October. The fall foliage around the course is absolutely breathtaking, adding an incredible backdrop to every hole. While the air is crisp, the course conditions are usually still fantastic, making for unforgettable rounds.

What are the must-play holes at Sugarloaf, and which offer the best views?

You absolutely can't miss the stretch from holes 10 through 14-we call it "The String of Pearls." The par-3 11th, with its dramatic downhill shot to a green framed by mountains, is a postcard moment you'll remember. Hole 14, a long par-4, also delivers incredible panoramic vistas as you approach the green.

Is Sugarloaf a walkable course, or should I plan on taking a cart?

Given the significant elevation changes and the distances between some greens and tees, we strongly recommend taking a cart at Sugarloaf. While we love walking, you'll conserve energy and enjoy the round much more without battling the steep climbs. Focus on your swing, not your stamina.

Is Sugarloaf worth the drive and green fee for a serious golfer?

Absolutely, Sugarloaf is a destination course that delivers incredible value for the experience. You're getting a truly unique mountain golf adventure with stunning views and a well-maintained, challenging layout that you won't find just anywhere. Plan for a full day trip-it's worth every minute.
