Deerfield Golf Club

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the biggest challenge I'll face playing Deerfield Golf Club?

You'll find the back nine at Deerfield really tests your nerve, especially holes 13 through 15. The elevation changes on these holes demand precise club selection, and those greens are trickier than they look, often sloping away from you. Don't be surprised if you leave a few putts short.

When is the best time of year to experience Deerfield's course conditions at their peak?

We always recommend visiting Deerfield in late spring or early fall for the absolute best conditions. The fairways are lush, the greens roll true, and the cooler temperatures make for a much more enjoyable round. Avoid mid-summer if you can, as the heat can really dry out some of the outer edges.

Is Deerfield Golf Club suitable for golfers who are still honing their game, or is it strictly for low handicappers?

Deerfield is surprisingly welcoming for all skill levels, which we appreciate. While the back tees offer a good challenge, the forward tees are strategically placed to shorten some of those longer carries, making it very playable. Just be mindful of the water on a few holes; it's definitely in play.

What's the one 'must-do' experience or unique feature at Deerfield that I shouldn't miss?

You absolutely have to grab a drink and a bite at the 19th Hole Bar after your round; it's got the best view of the 18th green in the area. Watching groups finish up while you recount your own shots is a classic Deerfield tradition. Their chili dog is surprisingly good, too.

How far in advance should I book a tee time at Deerfield, especially if I'm visiting on a weekend?

For weekend play, we strongly advise booking your tee time at Deerfield at least two to three weeks out, especially during peak season. Weekday mornings can be a bit more flexible, but even then, a week in advance ensures you get your preferred slot. Green fees are pretty standard for the area, usually around $60-80 with a cart.
