Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time of year to plan a golf trip to Sydney?

We've found autumn (March-May) and spring (September-November) offer the most pleasant conditions for golf in Sydney. You'll enjoy comfortable temperatures and less humidity, making those long rounds much more enjoyable. Summer can be hot and humid, while winter is mild but can bring more rain.

If I only have a few days, which Sydney courses are absolute must-plays?

For a short trip, we always recommend The Australian Golf Club for its championship pedigree and Royal Sydney Golf Club for its classic, immaculate feel. If you can squeeze in a third, head north to Terrey Hills Golf & Country Club for a different, more natural bushland experience. These three give you a fantastic taste of Sydney's diverse golf scene.

How expensive is it to golf in Sydney, and what should I budget for green fees?

Sydney golf can be on the pricier side, especially at the top-tier private clubs where visitor green fees can range from AUD $250-500+. Public access courses offer more budget-friendly options, typically AUD $70-150. We recommend booking well in advance, as prime tee times fill up quickly.

Can I easily walk the courses in Sydney, or are carts usually required?

Many of Sydney's courses are quite walkable, especially the older, more traditional layouts like Royal Sydney. However, some of the newer or more spread-out courses, particularly those with significant elevation changes, might make you appreciate a cart. Always check with the club beforehand, but we often prefer walking to soak in the stunning scenery.

Beyond the big names, are there any unique golf experiences or hidden gems in Sydney we should seek out?

Absolutely. For a truly unique experience, try a round at St. Michael's Golf Club, right on the coast with incredible ocean views and a challenging links-style layout. For something more relaxed and local, we love the vibe at The Coast Golf & Recreation Club - it's unpretentious, fun, and offers fantastic value with those same stunning coastal vistas.
