Frequently Asked Questions
When is the ideal time to plan a golf trip to Hibiscus and Bays?
We always recommend visiting from late spring through early autumn - October to April - for the best conditions. You'll find the courses lush and the weather reliably pleasant, perfect for enjoying those coastal views without the chill. Just be aware that peak summer (December-February) can get busy, so book your tee times ahead.
What kind of golf experience should I expect from the courses in Hibiscus and Bays?
Don't expect a huge variety of championship links, but you'll find three genuinely enjoyable courses that offer a fantastic blend of challenge and stunning scenery. They lean into their coastal locations, so be ready for some wind and beautiful ocean vistas on many holes. It's a relaxed, friendly vibe, not overly stuffy.
Is Hibiscus and Bays a good destination for a multi-day golf trip, or more of a day trip?
While you could certainly play all three courses in a long weekend, we think it's best enjoyed as a relaxed two-to-three day trip. This gives you time to really soak in each course and explore the local beaches and towns without rushing. The courses are close enough that travel between them is a breeze.
How do the green fees in Hibiscus and Bays compare to other New Zealand golf regions?
You'll find the green fees here offer excellent value, especially compared to some of the more famous, high-end courses further south. Expect to pay a moderate price for a round, which we think is a steal considering the well-maintained fairways and often spectacular coastal backdrops. It's a great spot for quality golf without breaking the bank.
What else is there to do in the Hibiscus and Bays area when we're not on the course?
This region is fantastic for its beaches and relaxed coastal towns, so definitely factor in some time off the greens. We love exploring the regional parks, grabbing fresh seafood, or just enjoying a coffee by the water. It's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy New Zealand's natural beauty beyond the fairways.
