Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time of year to golf on the Kāpiti Coast?
We've found late spring through early autumn (October to April) offers the most reliable weather for golf here. You'll enjoy warmer temperatures and less rain, making for truly pleasant rounds, especially along the coast. Just remember to book your tee times in advance, as the locals love their golf too.
What kind of golf experience can I expect from the Kāpiti Coast courses?
You're in for a treat with a mix of classic links-style and well-maintained parkland courses, all with a relaxed, friendly vibe. We particularly love the coastal layouts where the sea breeze adds an exciting challenge and the views are simply stunning. Don't expect overly manicured resort courses; these are authentic, community-focused clubs.
Are there any specific courses on the Kāpiti Coast that are absolute must-plays?
Absolutely, you can't visit without playing Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club-it's a genuine links masterpiece and a former NZ Open host. For a more relaxed but still engaging round, we also highly recommend Waikanae Golf Club for its beautiful setting and welcoming atmosphere. Each course offers something unique, so try to fit in a couple.
How easy is it to get around and access the golf courses on the Kāpiti Coast?
Getting around the Kāpiti Coast is straightforward, especially if you have a rental car, which we highly recommend for maximum flexibility. The courses are conveniently located just off State Highway 1, making travel between them quick and easy. You'll find ample parking at each club, so no worries there.
What should I budget for green fees when golfing on the Kāpiti Coast?
You'll find excellent value for money here, especially compared to some of the more famous courses globally. Green fees typically range from NZD $50-$150 per round, with Paraparaumu Beach being at the higher end, but well worth it. Many clubs offer twilight rates or multi-round passes if you plan to play a lot, so always ask.
